IOTA 2016 from Holy Island
In July 2016 we went to Holy Island (EU-124) for the IOTA contest. We rented a house in Rhoscolyn called “Hill Top” and it was. It had a 270 degree view of sea with Snowdonia in the distance one way and Holyhead mountain in the other direction. We put up an A3S tri-band beam, a Butternut vertical and wire dipoles for 80m, 40m and 20m. We had two stations supplied by Terry (G4UEM), the run station was an Elecraft K3 with a P3 panadapter and an Acom 1000 PA. The multiplier station was an Elecraft K3 with a KAT500 automatic ATU and a KPA500 PA. To protect the receivers Don (G4LOO) supplied switched filters and tuned stubs. Ian (G1JCC) supplied two PCs running N1MM logging software.
Conditions were not very good with 10m and 15m only partially open. We managed to get some good runs going on 40m and 20m to give us a total of 1131 contacts.
