70cm and up contest October 2019
We were QRV for the October 2019 70cm and up contest using the callsign G2L from Margate (JO01RJ). We were on 5 bands:
23cm using an IC910 with a 50W pa and preamplifier. We should have used a 300W PA but the preamplifier in that was deaf. The backup was a 50W PA but the preamplifier in that failed an took 2 hours to repair. The antenna was a 44 element WIMO. We made 22 QSOs with the best DX being DL0GTH at JO50JP, 658km.
13cm using an FT817 driving a DB6NT transverter with a 15W PA. The antenna was a 36 element WIMO. We made 11 QSO with the best DX being PI4GN at JO33II, 418km.
9cm using an FT817 driving a DB6NT transverter with a 15W PA. The antenna was a 1m dish with dual band feed. We made 4 QSOs with the best DX being G4ODA at IO92WS, 188km.
6cm using an FT817 driving a DB6NT transverter with a 15W PA. The antenna was a 1m dish with dual band feed. We made 4 QSOs with the best DX being G4ODA at IO92WS, 188km.
3cm using an FT290 driving a DB6NT transverter with a 10W PA and a pramplifier. The antenna was a 50cm dish. The preamplifier was suspected so a replacement was tried, unfortunately as the cover was replaced a fuse was blown causing a number of test to see if any damage had been done. It looked as though all was well but the performance did not reflect that. We made 4 QSOs with the best DX being G4ODA at IO92WS, 188km.
